I’ve been using iTunes since I started to use Apple products. At first it seemed pretty annoying using a windows computer where I already had my Winamp for listening to music and I did not need another program to take care of and sync etc. So my experience did not start on such good terms, but things changed.

Things changed because I bought a Mac and suddenly I saw why it’s such a great idea and why the marketplace behind it is so useful. But some things still bug me and it’s weird we have problems like this from Apple, a company that is always focused on improving user experience.

The first one is related to my Apple ID which was created back in the ol’ days with my romanian credit cards and details. When I moved to Denmark it wouldn’t take my credit card so I changed it to iTunes DK. Some apps are not available in the danish iTunes store so I have to wait until they reach my neck of the woods. One example that actually lead my to write this short article is Google Currents.

Google Currents is a new app that would integrate different streams of information, my Google Reader and so forth in one simple to use app. An alternative to the newly launched Flipboard (which by the way we will discuss later). I have no idea how Google Currents missed the danish marketplace because it has Danish as one of the languages.

Why limit the iTunes store to one country. And if you invoke any copyrights or legal matters then let me ask you how can a monolith like Google not have it pushed to all countries? I always thought that stuff like “This video is not available in your country” is creating some actual boundaries online. Boundaries in one environment that was supposed to me always open and inter-connected. We, users of the internet have to talk more about this until a precedent is created, point from where we can’t go back that easily.

It’s weird how that writer’s block that you just hear from friends shows up when you least expect it. It’s like a small little creature, mythical even, that creeps around when you really need stuff done. Of course it’s nothing to problematic, you just need to overcome it with some small tricks which work on different types of people.

See what I did here? Because lately I was under a lot of stress with a school project, work and more work I couldn’t find time to write regularly on my blog. Not this one, this is empty so far. The romanian blog is begging for some articles and my brain is there waiting to deliver. Unfortunately, my friend called time is not around that much so prioritizing my actions is a must.

Anyway the title stands by the article. Why? Because even after writing for 5 years on different blogs, on different niches and continuously pushing content online through various forms (to be read, social media madness) it’s still hard to start a new one. To make matters worse doing something that reflects you as a person will always be harder. It took me more then 3 months to come up with a good identity for my designer work and it takes me a couple of days to do the same thing for a client. How do you pass this entry point, this creative block?

This is what I do.

I write.

And I just start typing silly words that exactly describe my sensation, my mind block until I break that barrier and I keep going on with the idea until there is no trace left. This way you consume those thoughts that keep you from unleashing your ideas (in writing of course) and you keep going, but this time on the good track.

In the beginning I was thinking to write about me, about who I am and where I’m from, what I eat and how I like my coffee but that’s not relevant at all. You’ll get to know me after a couple of articles, after reading my thoughts, seeing my work or following me on different social websites. This is the best way you could learn about me and we can form that writer/reader bond, get you to share your own ideas and show you how valuable they are for me. Not by telling you everything you would need to know before. Where’s the fun in that?

When in doubt look at your twitter feed. One of your last 10 tweets contain an idea you abandoned to the 140char god and just left it there to die. take it and try to give it a more shiny place to show it off and gather a crowd. I always said Twitter was a blog killer, but only if you let it be one. It could also make you think, get you in touch with the right people and provide great links to ultimate geekiness.

Enough for now, back to work. Without knowing and almost in one long keyboard frenzy I passed 500 words starting from an empty page. I dunno about you guys, but the message from wordpress “Just write.” is perfect and I stand by it.

Just write.
